1:00 P.M. - March 18, 1998 Present: Acting Mayor Herman Davis Alderman Don Davidson is one of applicants to be interviewed. The purpose of this special called meeting is to interview four applicants for the appointment of a Mayor to fill the unexpired term of Mayor, due to the death of Mayor James Norman. Expiration of term is April, 1999. Four applicants were selected for interview from a total of seven applications, submitted at a special meeting on March 13, 1998 The four applicants are: Harley Don Davidson Applicants have been scheduled by alphabetical order for the interview process. The aldermen developed six questions to ask each applicant: 1. What are qualifications for Mayor? Mr. Davis asked Mr. Alcorn to be moderator. A one-to-five point system to rate each response to each question was used, with total points tallied for each applicant. They also were allowed a moment for closing summary remarks. City supervisors present: Rick Graham, Maintenance Department; Randy Hawkins, Street Department; Jerry Loveland, Water/Sewer Department; and, citizen Larry Morrison. All were invited to participate in discussion about evaluating the interviews. Motion made by Oren Alcorn to appoint Scott Fleetwood as Mayor of City of Ava, to fill unexpired term of Mayor "Bud" Norman. Expiration of term of office - April 1999. Second to motion by Delmar Guthery. Motion approved. All in favor. Record of vote: Alcorn, aye; Davis, aye; Guthery, aye. Motion made by Oren Alcorn to adjourn meeting. Second to motion by Delmar Guthery. Motion approved. All in favor. Meeting adjourned.
